This is the second piece in my collection inspired by our Lady of the Lake University. The first painting focused on the courtyard, on the landscape, and the way the surrounding buildings hold and shape that space. With this piece, I wanted to shift that focus toward the university”s main building and what it represents. The work is a 60×72 inch acrylic with mixed media. I approached the building not just as architecture, but as something symbolic-something that carries history, faith, and identity.

As I worked, I became interested in the details within the structure, especially the subtle references to the Virgin and the way those ideas can live within architectural forms. The mixed media allowed me to build those layers and create a sense of depth, almost like traces of memory or time embedded into the piece.

Overall, this piece continues my exploration of the University as more than just a place. I see it as a space where structure, landscape, and spirituality come together, and I’m trying to capture that feeling across the series.
